We really are off the beaten track. Cratfield is deep in the Suffolk countryside so once you have left the main roads there is still a way to go…..
For satnavs use the full address as above – if you use only the post code you may end up at our neighbours house in Tongs Lane – if you end up in Tongs Lane you can get to the Long House by using our back (farm) driveway – Tongs Lane Farm.
For Traditional map users/ navigators:-
If you are coming from the south/west – Ipswich/Colchester direction (Approx 50 mins from Ipswich)
Turn off A12 onto the B1116 towards Framlingham.
Follow B1116 to Framlingham then to Dennington (at Dennington you cross the A1120 which is an alternative to coming down the A12 if you are coming off the A14 at Stowmarket for instance)
Get back on to the B1116 in the middle of Dennington – signed Harleston
Follow road for 5 or 6 miles then on a hair pin bend take the second road to the right signed “Cratfield 4” its called “Cake Street”
Follow this road – bear left at the next junction
Follow this road taking the next turning to the right (Swan Green Lane)
We are the only house on the left hand side of this road – about 0.5 mile just before the next turn to the left – if you see “Manse Lane” you have just gone past us.
If you are coming from Norwich (approx 50 mins from Norwich)
Heading south on the A140 and turn off for Pulham Market and Harleston.
From Harleston and follow the B1116 to Weybread, Fressingfield and towards Laxfield.
About 3 miles outside Fressingfield take a Left turn on to small lane signed “Cratfield” – It is on a sharp right corner -there is a post box near the junction.
Follow road – over cattle grid and at the T Junction in the middle of the common turn right.
Shortly after the next cattle grid bear right at next junction. Take next turning to the left you are now on Swan Green Lane.
We are the only house on the left hand side of this road before the next left turn – just over half a mile – if you see “Manse Lane” you have just gone past us.
Coming from North/West – Cambridge/ Bury St Edmunds direction (also good from Diss) (approx 1 Hr from Bury)
Take B143 from Bury St Eds towards Stanton/ Wattisfield/Gt Yarmouth.
As you approach Scole keep following the A143 by taking the second exit on the A143/A140 roundabout.
A few miles after the A140/ A143 roundabout at Scole turn right at Billingford (Horseshoes pub and windmill landmarks)
After hump back bridge turn left at T Junction and follow this road into Stradbroke.
At T junction in the centre of Stradbroke turn Left.
Follow road (B1117) for 4 or 5 miles then just after the junction with the B1116 on a hair pin bend take the first road to the left signed “Cratfield 4” its called “Cake Street”
Follow this road – bear left at the next junction
Follow this road taking the next turning to the right (Swan Green Lane)
We are the only house on the left hand side of this road before the next left turn – just over half a mile – if you see “Manse Lane” you have just gone past us.
From the East- eg Halesworth (16 Minutes from Halesworth)
Leave Halesworth on the B1123 towards Metfield/ Harleston.
After about 3-4 miles turn left opposite Linstead church – you will go up a short steep hill ignore the turning to your right at the top of the hill.
Take the next turning to the right signed to Cratfield and follow this road for 2 -3 miles into the village.
Once you enter the village take the second left turning (Manse Lane and signed to the village hall)
Follow this road past the village hall and round some bends ignore Tongs Lane and go through the tunnel of trees.
At end of lane turn right. We are the first (only) house on the right after about 40 meters.
